Son iki haftadır neler oluyor güzel ülkemde. Herkes şahsi sıkıntılarını unuttu, tek bir davaya verdi kendini. Yıllarca suskunluğunu koruyan kitleler ilk defa ses verdi. Bunun ilk örneklerini İstiklal’deki sansür yürüyüşünde de görmüştük. Canı yanınca herkes tepki veriyor. Hayatına müdahale olunca ve bu müdahaleler ardı ardına gelince direniş göstermek kaçınılmaz oluyor. Meydanlarda boy göstermek ve yapılanları kabul etmemek. Park bunun bir simgesi haline geldi.

Neler oldu bu geçen ayda bir bakalım?
Hatay’da Reyhanlı’da Anneler Günü’nde patlama gerçekleşti. Medya bunu olduğu gibi yansıtmadı. Hayatını kaybeden kişi sayısı azaltıldı. Hatta yayın yasağı getirildi. Ülkeyi kaosa götürmesin diye gizlendi detaylar. Medyanın 50 kişi yaşamını yitirdi derken, gerçek sayılar 300’ü buluyordu.
Türkiye daha bu acısını tam hazmedememişken gündem değişti. Alkol satış yasağı kanunu düzenlendi. Saat 22:00’den sonra satış yasak, camii,okul ve kursların 100 metre etrafında satış yasak. Alkol markalarının sponsorluğu yasak; zaten bu etkinliklere 24+ yaş sınırı getirilmişti ama yetmemiş. A bir de benzin istasyonlarında yasak; belki de en mantıklı olanı. Ama başbakan açıklamasında diyor ki ” Tüm bu düzenlemeler trafik kazalarını azaltmak için”, yersen…
Daha sonra düşünce hürriyetine bir darbe daha geliyor. İlk önce Fazıl Say’a gelen hapis cezası sonrasında da Sevan Nişanyan’a. Düşündüklerini ifade ettiklerinden dolayı, özgürce… 13 ay hapis?
Devam ediyorum, 3. köprü açılışı yapılıyor. Müftü eşliğinde ve dualarla. Sonra da adı açıklanıyor: Yavuz Sultan Selim. Ülkemizin 1/4 ‘ünü oluşturan ve Alevi olan nüfusa karşı büyük bir ayıp. Sebebi ne olursa olsun, zamanında bu katliam gerçekleşti mi, gerçekleşti. Bundan rahatsız olan bu kadar çok vatandaşımız varken neden o köprüye bu ismi vermek?
Tepkiler yoğunlaşınca bu sefer başbakanın ağzından şu laf çıktı: “‘İki tane ayyaşın yaptığı yasa sizin için muteber oluyor da inancın emrettiği bir gerçek, vaka niçin sizler için reddedilmesi gereken bir olay haline geliyor?” Hani trafik kazalarıydı sebep? Nereden çıktı birdenbire dinin emirleri? Biz dinin emirlerine göre mi yönetiliyoruz bu ülkede? Lafı herkes ülke kurucularına söylenmiş gibi algıladı, belki de öyleydi. Bir başbakan nasıl laflarını tartmadan böyle konuşur, nereye çekileceğini hesap edemez. Bence ediyor olmalı. Demek ki kutuplaşma istiyor.
Gezi Parkı’na gelelim sonrasında… Taksim meydanı zaten uzun süredir inşaat halinde. Yollar kapandı. AKM zaten yıllardır kapalıydı. Seçim vaatleri arasında Taksim projesi ve Gezi Parkı’nı Topçu Kışlası’na çevirmek de varmış. Sanki oy verenlerin hepsi tüm bilinçleriyle, her yapılacak olan projeyi dikkate alarak oy veriyor. Gezi Parkı’nı yıkıp projeye uydurmak bizim seçim vaadimiz diyor, söz verdik diyor. Bu kadar büyük bir kitlenin tepkisini çekmiyor bu olanlar ta ki iş makineleri parka gelinceye kadar. Ağaçları sökmek için, parkı da inşaata çevirmek için. Genç bir grup hemen sahip çıkıyor parka. Kamp kuruyorlar. Barış içinde kitap okuyorlar, ağaçları korumaya çalışıyorlar. Milletvekillerinin dokunulmazlığını kullanıp engellemeye çalışıyorlar olan biteni. Gezi Parkı belki o kadar da popüler bir park olmadı şimdiye kadar. Hep olumsuz anıldı. İt kopuk mekanı; zaten çok kullanılan bir park değildi dendi. Bunlar bahane mi? Olaylar sabaha karşı polisin aşırı müdahalesiyle körüklendi. Kampçıların çadırlarını yaktılar, parkta çadırlarda uyumakta olanlar biber gazı bombardımanına tutuldular. Kırmızı elbiseli kadın bu ilk günlerin simgesi haline geldi. Bu şekilde başladı gitgide büyüyen hareket. Her gün daha da fazla kişi katıldı eyleme. İnsanlar içlerinde birikmiş haksızlıkları tek tek ortaya döktü. Slogan attı, zıpladı, oturdu, kitap okudu, yürüdü. Polisin bitmek tükenmez saldırılarına maruz kaldı. Cevap verdi. Örgütlendi! Halk arasında sınıf, ırk, din kalmadan bir dayanışma başladı. Gezi Parkı ücretsiz içecek-yiyecek dağıtılan, çöplerini toplayan, sabah sporunu yapan, sanatsal faaliyetler düzenlenen bir yer haline geldi.
Beşiktaş’ta toplanıldı. Polis abartılı müdahalesine burada da devam etti. Yüzlerce kişi yaralandı. Hayatını kaybeden insanlar oldu. Plastik mermilerden onlarca insan gözlerini kaybetti. Hepsi bu dava uğruna. İstanbul böyle çalkalanırken tüm Türkiye uyumadı elbette. Eylemler olanca hızıyla her yere yayıldı. Sıçradı. Her yerde mitingler yapıldı. Gösteriler olanca hızıyla devam ediyor. Polis yine büyük şehirlerde mesken tuttu ve TOMAsıyla, biber gazıyla yine saldırdı. İşin daha da üzücü yanı ambülans geçişlerine izin verilmedi.

Eyleme katılmayan kişilere bile mağdur oldular. Tüm sokaklara, caddelere tonlarca biber gazı sıkıldı. Bir sürü fırsatçı çıktı. Seyyarlar her yerde Vendetta maskeleri, deniz gözlükleri ve gaz maskeleri satmaya başladı. Gezi Parkı köfteci doldu. Metrekare başına bir tane düşecek kadar…
Saat 21:00 tencere tava protestoları başladı. Türkiye’nin dört bir yanında sokaklar mahalleler bu seslerle inledi…
Arada başbakan Kuzey Afrika gezisine çıktı. Günlerdir sessiz sakin takılan medya, biraz olsun olaylardan bahsetti. Medyanın ne kadar taraflı haber yaptığına şahit olduk hepimiz. İlk defa bu kadar birebir. Provokasyonlar başladı. Meydanda siyasi partilerin flamaları belirlemeye başladı. Halk huzursuzlandı. Böyle olsun istemiyoruz! Başbakan gezisinden döndü ve tüm açıklamaları bizi daha da kutuplaştırmak için. Tüm söylemleri tutarsız. Bir A diyor bir B diyor. Hem 76 milyonun başbakanıyım diyor, hem sürekli kendisine oy veren %50’den bahsediyor. Farkında değil mi ki ona oy verenler bile bu tutumunu yanlış buluyor? Kimse kusursuz değildir, neden geri adım atmıyor? Neden tüm halkı memnun edecek konuşmalar yapmaktan çekiniyor. Çapulcu dediği yetmemiş gibi bugün Anarşist ve Terörist de olduk. Bu uğurda ölen, yaralanan binlerce insan var; o sadece polislerin yaralarından bahsediyor. Doğru ama hükumet hem halkına hem de polisine zulmediyor. Son bir haftada 6 polis intihar etmiş. Başbakan birleşmiş halkı, dayanışmaya gönül vermiş halkı destekleyeceğine, kendi tabanını iç savaşa çağırıyor resmen! Ayıp yahu!

What’s been going on in my beautiful country for the last two weeks? Everyone has forgotten personal problems and just focused on one CASE. People are very devoted. Everybody who has kept their silence for all these years has started to REACT for the first time. We have sensed it a bit at the protests against internet censorship when thousands gathered in Istiklal two years ago. When you get hurt, you defy! That’s simple. If they interfere in your life, even little by little, you cannot take it anymore and show up in the crowd! Park has just become the symbol of this resistance.

What happened in Turkey then?
We had an explosion in Reyhanlı/Hatay, close to Syrian border; it was the Mother’s day ( 12. of May). The media did not reflect this as it is. The number of people who lost their life was underestimated; there was even a media blackout. The excuse was not leading the country to a chaos. Media said almost 50 people died but in reality it was around 300.

Turkey was still mourning when suddenly the agenda of the country changed. There was a ban on alcohol sale. No alcohol would be sold after 22:00. Also near 100 meter of any mosque/school/course… Alcohol brands could not sponsor any festivals (which already had an age restriction of 24+). Ah I almost forgot also at gas stations. The most sensible one. However our prime minister declares that “All these regulations are just there to reduce traffic accidents” (And we believed in this)

Later on, a ban on freedom of thought! First our world famous pianist Fazıl Say’s prison sentence, then the linguist Sevan Nişanyan…Because they expressed their thoughts frankly about religion. Better said, Turkey’s dominant religion: Islam. 13 months of sentence?

Let’s continue.

The inauguration of the third bridge… with all the prayers and the presence of the government’s religious official. The name is declared: Yavuz Sultan Selim… who has massacred Alevis in history. Considering our country consists of ¼ of Alevis, it is a great shame on them. Whatever the reason of this massacre is, it happened. And when there are so many citizens who are disturbed by this name, why name it so?

The reactions intensified, especially for the alcohol ban; then the PM said “The law that two drunks have made is highly regarded, but not the one that the faith orders?” What now? He said it was the traffic accidents which made him bring regulations on alcohol sale. What happened now that he talks about the orders of the religion? Who are those two drunks? The founders of the Turkish Republic? It is what everyone understood. How dare? How dare a PM can talk like this, he cannot reckon the results of his words? I think he does, he just wants polarization!

And now Gezi Park. Taksim square has been under construction for a long time now. The cultural center AKM has been shut down for years now. Among the election campaign promises of the PM, there were Taksim Project and the conversion of Gezi Park into Topçu Kışlası (barracks). As if all the voters considered all these projects when voting for him. He says that demolishing the park and converting it is our duty now. Our followers want this. At first, it did not take attention of a big crowd, until the heavy machinery arrived to remove the trees from the park. A young group gathered in the park, camped! They read books on the park peacefully and try to protect the trees. They took the advantage of some parliamentarian’s legislative immunity. He tried to prevent trees being removed using his power. Gezi Park has not been a very popular place so far. It was always remembered as a place of the scum of the earth. Is it an excuse now? In the morning of this protest, police arrived and attacked aggressively. They burnt the tents of the peaceful protestors and tear gassed the entire park while everyone was sleeping in their tents. “The lady in red” appeared at day and the movement has become bigger. Everyday more people joined. People were fed up with all the injustice and the pile of all wrongdo made them gather in the park. People shouted slogans, they jumped, they read books, and they wandered. However, they were under the constant attack of the police. Constant and non-proportional.

The public started to gang up regardless of religion, ethnics or socio-economic status. Gezi Park became a place where people can eat and drink free of charge, where people picking up the garbage, do their morning exercise, presenting art workshops.

The second neighborhood was Beşiktaş. The police’s non-proportional interference continued here. Hundreds of people got injured. Some people lost their lives. Because of the rubber bullets, some people lost their eyes. Just for the sake of this case! While Istanbul was shaken so, the rest of Turkey did not sleep of course. The protests spread all over Turkey. There were demonstrations everywhere, still they continue. Police dwell in all the big cities with the water cannons, tear gas…
What is sad is the ambulance entrances were blocked by the government.
Meanwhile the Pope declared the mass killings of Armenians during World War I as “the first genocide of the twentieth century”
Here is my tweet about it. “Pope, we are already in a mess here, please try again later!”

Even people who did not attend the protests were the victims of the pepper and tear gas. Many opportunists showed up as well. The peddlers appeared and started to sell Vendetta masks, rift swim masks and gas masks. Gezi Park was full of Meatball-sellers. One for each square meter.

The protests of 21:00 o’clock began with all the kitchen equipment. People started to make noise at home even if they do not go to the gatherings. In all the cities of Turkey, the streets resounded with pots and pans!

Meanwhile the PM went to North Africa for visiting purposes. The media that had been sleeping suddenly started to talk about the issue. We all witnessed how the media are BIASED. All of us, for the first time. We had to watch penguin documentaries on TV instead of the demonstrations!

The provocateurs appeared also, the square was filled up with political flags. The public got restless. We do not want it so!

The PM got back but all his speeches are just to polarize us even more. His statements are nothing but inconsistent. He calls himself the president of 76 million, but then keeps on stressing the %50 who voted for him. Isn’t he aware that even his voters do not agree with his attitude? Nobody’s perfect, why doesn’t he step back?

Why does he hesitate to make speeches that would please the WHOLE public? He called us looter (çapulcu) and today he used the words Anarchist and Terrorist as well. There are people DIED in the cause of this case but he just mentions the injured policemen. The government does not only oppress the public but also the police. In the last week 6 police committed suicide. What a pity! Instead of uniting all of us, he just calls his grassroots to declare a civil war! What kind of a wording he uses! Shame on you!

We just want democracy… Unfortunately at the moment, only voting does not provide us that… We want the election threshold to be lifted! So that everybody can be presented in the parlamento. All ethnics, all religions, all sexual preferences, all socio-economic levels! Freedom to media and freedom to speech!
