Contemporary Istanbul 2013

Contemporary Istanbul 2013

This is it! Contemporary Istanbul exhibitions always give me inspiration even me not being an artist! I love seeing the ideas, how different cultures reflect it, how world politics are interpreted…You can always find something that you like! This year it is between 7-10 November in Lütfi Kırdar with the attendance of many art galleries from all over the world. Sadly this year I have not seen as many Middle Eastern galleries as before. Iranian one did not affect me that much as in 2012. Apart from pictures there was a video by Fırat Engin which was really sarcastic showing the descriptions of some words in the current offical Turkish Dictionary and the one back in ’50s and ’60s… The differences are amazing!
Let’s see what we have:

Capitalism vs Spiritualism
This is from a Turkish artist, it really looks like one of the last year's pieces
Again from the same Turkish artist
Last year's piece from a Korean artist as far as I remember (2012)
Some vivid colors
My Chinese Horoscope- Dragon!
Prince with "Black Horse" ( sarcasm to Turkish "Prince Charming" phrase)
The pieces my mum thinks she can replicate :D
A Chinese Girl with Klimt effect on her hair :D
Looking for democracy?
Jesus by Fahrelnisa Zeid
Lady with an ermine made of BUGS AND INSECTS!
Another piece made of bugs!
For you to see bugs close up!
