Recently my university’s Jazz Choir has published a video which has taken a great attention on facebook also on youtube. I am so surprised to see the comments people make. Some call them ‘wannabe’ , some call them pragmatist! Some people even accuse them of singing GOSPEL…I am very surprised to see how people are ‘disappointed’ because the choir did not sing in Turkish! Rather chose to sing a gospel/jewish song in English! Come on people, Music is UNIVERSAL! How dare you say something like this! They sing in many languages! They sang ‘İlahi’s in China when in choir competition…
double standards!
HOWEVER, whenever we see a foreigner singing in Turkish, we are so happy!!! I guess people would adore if a foreigner would sing a religious song… That is called: Double Standards in my literature..
