Yıllarca bekledik gelmesini onun, Estrella Morente’nin…Sanki hala yastaymış gibi başladı konserine annemin adaşı “Estrella”. Simsiyah etekleri kat kat bir flamenko elbisesi; alışageldiği gibi bir şal üzerinde müzik notaları olan. Aslında 3 yılı geçti babası efsanevi Flamenko şarkıcısı Enrique Morente’yi kaybedeli; bilirsiniz Katoliklerde ölümden sonra 1 sene simsiyah giyer yas tutarlar. Konserin devamında ise bembeyaz bir kıyafet tercih etmiş Estrella, bir melek gibi karşımıza çıktı. 7 kişilik bir ekip vardı karşımızda 3 adet Palmas ve backvokal, 2 gitarist, 1 perküsyonist.

Estrella, aralarda hep babasını andı. Halkı ve sanatı buluşturan kişilerden biri olarak nitelendirdi onu ve anısına erkek kardeşi Jose Enrique Morente’yi sahneye davet etti; böylece Kiki’den de bir parça dinleme fırsatı bulduk.

2012’de Granada’ya gittiğimizde Enrique Morente’nin mezarı üzerinde Morente kardeşlerden bırakılmış çiçekleri görmüştük. Görevli her hafta taze çiçeklerin geldiğini söylemişti.

Son şarkısını Almodóvar filmi için seslendirdiği Volver şarkısıyla yapacağını söyledi. Büyülenerek dinledim. Tam bitti gidiyor zannediyorduk ki Estrella bir sürpriz yaptı ve sahneden indi. Seyircilerin arasında dolaşarak şarkısını söylemeye devam etti. Şanslı olanlar ona sarılma fırsatı da buldu tabii. Bitirirken duygulandı Estrella, bana gözleri doldu gibi geldi hatta “es Enrique Morente cantando” diyerek indi sahneden…

We have been waiting for her for so long…For Estrella Morente…The namesake of my mother. The concert began as if she is still in mourning, she wore a black flamenco dress with all the glory, and had a schal (typicaly) with some musical notes on it. Actually 3 years passed since his father the legendary Flamenco singer Enrique Morente passed away; you might know the Catholics have the custom to wear all back for a year after a death. Then she continued the concert with a white one, she appeared on the stage like an angel literally. The band had 7 members. 3 Palmas + Backvockals, 2 guitarists and a percussionist.

Estrella kept comemorating his father and mentioned that he was a man who built a bridge between the audience and the art. She invited her brother Jose Enrique Morente to sing in his memory. So we had the chance to see Kiki’s live performance as wel…

When we have been to Granada back in 2012, we visited the cemetary of Enrique Morente. The Morente siblings left some flowers on the grave. The officer told us they send new flowers every week.

She concluded the concert with a song that is from an Almodóvar film soundtrack: Volver. I was fascinated completely. When we thought the concert was over, Estrella surprised us and came off the stage. She continued singing between us. The lucky ones had the chance to hug her too! She was pretty moved as she was slowly leaving us, I even saw that she was filled with tears, singing ” Es Enrique Morente cantando”…
