On Friday and Saturday Natacha Atlas & The Mazeeka Ensemble performed in Babylon! I could attend the one on Saturday, 10th, with a great fortune, because all the tickets were sold out even before 4 days! We tried so hard and we could get to have 3 tickets at the end :D
The first impression i get was, she was a bit cold, i think it was because of her sickness too , she was drinking egg-white with champagne to soothe her voice…
I loved the song, beny w benak eih =) she covered it, it is from Abdel Halim Hafez ‘Beny w benak eih, shaghalt baly leeh ? ‘ meaning: what is between me and you, why did you make me love you? what did I do for you to do this to me (as if its a bad thing)
Then: Hayati Inta Reprise ( Hayatak Ana) , it was really goood, we repeated many times: hayati inta, la omri inta, wa ayuni inta, manta habibi! and she perfomed a belly dance show for us, which I found very artistic and different comparing to the ones I’ve watched in Türkiye so far! They even wrote a song during their stay in Istanbul and it is called Istanbul too =) I wish she sang c’est la vie too, but she didn’t! İnşallah next time ;)
