Louvre is a huge museum. You can really spend your whole day there and you won’t be done. After a while you see so many magical pieces that you generate some kind of resistance in a way that you are not easily impressed. It is a bit of an overwhelming experience. If you visit the museum without any prior-research or knowledge and just randomly walk, you might miss some of the highlights you were not even aware of. So I would definitely recommend a little bit of a research before visiting it. The first time I visited Louvre was in 2005 and I remember being disappointed by Mona Lisa as I expected it to be larger.
