The wonderful Lenbachhaus of Münich… I got to know Gabriele Münter and the movement she was also involved in along with her lover Wassily Kandinsky “The Blue Rider”.
The Blue Rider / Blauer Reiter in German was one of Europe’s most important groups of avant-garde artists in the early 20th century.
The collection has 90 oil paintings by Kandinsky as well as around 330 watercolors and drawings, sketchbooks, and reverse glass paintings by the artist and his printed oeuvre. Not only Kandinsky’s but also many other eminent artists’ art pieces are here
25 paintings by Münter herself and work of Franz Marc, August Macke, Paul Klee, Alexej von Jawlensky, and Marianne von Werefkin.
