Exhibition: HEROES, FREAKS, AND SUPER-RABBIS / The Jewish Dimension of Comic Art

29 Apr to 8 Aug 2010

So, I never forget the day I visited this museum! Museum staff showed me a lot of attention on that day; first one was a bit flirty. He suggested showing me around and then asked personal questions such as “are your parents socialists?” “I mean the Turks from Istanbul, the ones I met are generally so, and also atheists”, “are you studying humanities, because you look like you do”

After I escaped him, a Georgian one came up. Actually I was asking for a direction, he saw my tourist-guide-book in Turkish and asked if I were Turkish. When I said yes, he was excited to tell he was Georgian. Then I thought I should tell him my grandmother was from Artvin after he showed such a happiness from being neighbors. I asked him if he knows the city Artvin, he started to talk with me in Georgian lol.. I said “NO NO NO, it is my grandmother, she’s Laz, are the languages so similiar!?” He replied yes…then he continued “I KNEW you were Laz, I understood it from your eyes!” WOW! for the first time in my life someone claiming having understood where my looks are coming from.
