Contemporary Istanbul exhibitions always give me inspiration even me not being an artist! I love seeing the ideas, how different cultures reflect it, how world politics are interpreted…You can always find something that you like! Sadly in 2013, I have not seen as many Middle Eastern galleries as before. Iranian one did not affect me that much as in 2012. Apart from paintings there was a video by Fırat Engin which was really sarcastic showing the descriptions of some words in the current offical Turkish Dictionary and the one back in ’50s and ’60s… The differences are amazing! Then there were these paintings made of insects. You don’t know if you should disgust or admire the work…
